Every time you pay at a Japanese shop, the cashier will ask you about a bag, a receipt, and how you’d like to pay. These questions come up every single day. In this lesson, you’ll learn exactly how to answer them — and how to handle the whole cashier conversation with confidence.

Almost all cashier questions can be answered with one of these two phrases.

④ When you don’t understand the cashier
Don’t panic. Use one of these:
