Japanese sounds

Next is a special sound.

There are three special sounds.

1. small sound
2. long sound
3. N sound

The first is a small “tsu” sound.

Listen to the following two words.
Neko, Nekko

Neko is cats, two lengths.
Nekko is the roots, three lengths.

Neko is a cat
Nekko is the roots.

When written in letters, ねこ and ねっこ.

There is a small “tsu” between Ne and Ko.

Let’s check another one.
Machi, Mattchi,

Machi is a town.

When written in letters, まち, まっち.

There are small “tsu”.

4. Next is a long sound
Chizu, Chiizu
Chizu is two lengths.

Chiizu is cheese, three lengths.

Chizu is a map.
Chiizu is cheese.

In letters, it’s ちず, ちーず,

Next is the sound
How much is it?
Senen desu.

se n e n are four lengths.
It is not Senen.
It is Sen En.

せんえん is

ん is one length, just like せ and え.

まず1 つ目は小さい「つ」の音です。

次の2 つの言葉を聞いてください。

猫、ねっこ

猫は猫、2 つの長さです。

根っこは、ねっこ、3 つの長さです。

ねこは猫です

ねっこは根っこです。

文字で書くと、猫、根っこ

根っこはねとここの間に小さいつがあります。

もう一つ聞いてみましょう。

町、マッチ、

町です、マッチです。

マッチは小さいつがあります。

3、次は長い音です

ちず、チーズ

ちずはちず2 つの長さです。

チーズは、チーズ、3 つの長さです。

ちずは、地図です。

チーズは、チーズです。

文字で書くと、チーズ、チーズです、

次は、「ん」の音です

いくらですか、せんえん、です。

1000 円、1000 円はせんえん、4 つの長さです。

せねん、ではありません。

せんえん、です。

せんえん、は

ん、を、せ、や、え、と同じように1 つの長さです。
