I took the free course via email. For two months, the email with the content arrived punctually every day. The course progresses in difficulty, and while I wasn’t able to complete it all because I’m at a basic level, I found it inspiring to read the email, which encourages you not to give up but to continue studying at your own pace. It’s nice that, in addition to grammar rules, there’s also information about Japanese culture and life. When the last email arrived, I was sad, because it had been a lovely morning appointment for me. Furthermore, on a couple of occasions when I needed to contact the tutor, I received prompt, kind, and timely responses. I recommend this experience to anyone interested in learning Japanese; it’s not just a course, it’s a journey.

I really appreciated the additional learning materials provided throughout the course. There were useful tables, illustrations, videos, and links that helped me understand and remember the material better. I found it especially convenient to print some of these materials and keep them in my study folder so that I could return to them whenever I needed to review something. Another thing I really liked was the structure of the subscription. Each day I could focus on one new lesson through one dedicated link, without having the new material mixed together with previous lessons. This may sound like a small detail, but for me it made studying much more manageable. It gave me a clear daily goal and also helped me understand when it was time to stop studying and take a proper break after completing the day’s lesson. One of my favorite parts was the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture. The lessons were not limited to language itself, and I really enjoyed the cultural information connected with everyday life in Japan. I would actually like to revisit the online lessons again in the future, both to review the language and to study the cultural details more carefully. There is always something new to notice when you return to the same material with a little more knowledge. The course also introduced me to many kanji that were new to me, as well as useful basic grammatical structures that I can apply in my Japanese studies. For a foreign learner, having language material connected with cultural context makes the learning experience much more meaningful. Finally, I would like to mention the personal side of my experience. As a foreign student, I especially appreciated how responsive and supportive the team was. Attempted to charge me for a tutor I had not agreed to use, and after I found one I liked and paid for several months in advance for, I received multiple emails, text messages and direct phone calls informing me to pay twice over to continue lessons after the first month. I would not be able to say they were “professional.”
I did find a fantastic tutor, so I won’t give this business the lowest stars, but I would urge anyone considering using this matching service to keep ALL of your receipts and messages for future reference.

During my last extended stay in Japan, I contacted HH JapaNeeds to find teachers or volunteers with whom I could practice my Japanese. I was looking for a company that was able to be flexible and work with my specific requests for how I’d like to learn and I found it! HH JapaNeeds didn’t hesitate to find a fantastic teacher who understood that I didn’t want to do textbook lessons. Chanced upon HH JapaNeeds while trying to find online classes to improved my Japanese. The response is fast and Honda San contacted me. First he conducted an interview to see my level of Japanese and to find out more on which area am I focusing on learning. He is a very helpful coordinator and always constantly checking if the requirement fit my needs.

Very helpful if you want to learn Japanese. They have various options of tutoring, and you probably find one at your location (or online, if you want) and according to your needs. Coordination via e-mail or Whatsapp is swift and in excellent English, the tutors are all very helpful (I chose the partner level) and you get to choose which one(s) suit(s) you best. The online presence is also very useful. Highly recommended.

Mr Honda did a great job. He always cares about the status of learner and if you have any questions, he provides answers right away. Just describe what kind of teacher you need, he will find a suitable one for you. I had great time with my teacher and learned a lot of japanese culture or customs which I haven’t known before.

Can lessons focus on JLPT, business Japanese or daily conversation?
Yes. Tell us what you want to achieve, whether it is preparing for the JLPT, communicating at work, handling everyday situations or building confidence in conversation.
We consider your level and goals when coordinating a tutor. You and your tutor can discuss suitable materials and a balance of conversation and structured study. Tutor availability and suitability depend on your learning needs.
Where and when can I take lessons?
Online lessons are available worldwide. In-person lessons depend on local tutor availability and an agreed meeting place. We arrange your trial around your preferred time and location. After regular lessons begin, you and your tutor can usually discuss times directly, subject to availability. You can also ask about hybrid arrangements.
Can I request tutor preferences or change my tutor?
Yes. Tell us your preferences for teaching style, language support, experience, lesson focus, schedule and location. We consider these when coordinating a suitable tutor, subject to availability.
If the match does not feel right or your needs change, please contact us. We can discuss adjustments or try to arrange another suitable tutor.
Do I need a textbook before starting?
No. You can bring a textbook you already use, or discuss suitable materials with us and your tutor. You do not need to buy a textbook before the consultation. Materials and lesson content can be discussed around your level, goals and interests.
How do payments and extra hours work?
Monthly plans shown here include 5 hours. Credit card payments are handled through Stripe, with bank transfer available on request. If you need more hours, Partner Class may involve an additional tutor; Pro Class allows additional hours according to the purchased plan and its validity. See payment options and plan details.
What happens if I cancel a lesson?
Changing or cancelling a lesson: Contact your tutor as early as possible. Cancellation and rescheduling follow your agreed lesson conditions; late cancellations or missed lessons may count as used lesson time. Please confirm the notice period before your lessons begin.
Stopping recurring payments: Contact us before your next billing date. This is a separate request from cancelling an individual lesson. Ask us about your arrangement.
How long does it take to become fluent?
Progress depends on your starting level, study time, goals and practice outside lessons. Regular conversation and review can help you build on what you learn. We can help you discuss a realistic learning plan, without promising the same timeline for everyone.
